Coca-Cola is one of Berkshire's longest-held investments. Buffett originally bought the stock in the late 1980s and bought more shares in 1994. Berkshire still holds 400 million shares after stock splits, worth $28.7 billion at the end of Q3.

The latest Berkshire Hathaway 13F filing came out last week detailing the holding company's buys and sells, and there were a few surprises. Warren Buffett waded into Pool Corporation (NASDAQ: POOL) and munched on Domino's Pizza (NYSE: DPZ) for the first time.

Warren Buffett is known for his value approach to investing, and that was on display again in Berkshire Hathaway's (NYSE: BRK.A)(NYSE: BRK.B) third-quarter trades. Both of these stocks fit the classic Buffett schema.

Warren Buffett bought Berkshire Hathaway (NYSE: BRK.A)(NYSE: BRK.B) about 60 years ago. At the time the business was in decline and the purchase seemed like folly. But today, Berkshire Hathaway is worth more than $1 trillion.
