The CEO of UnitedHealthcare has been fatally shot in New York City in what appeared to be a targeted attack, according to reports. The New York Post was the first to report Brian Thompson, 50, was shot outside the Hilton hotel in Manhattan’s Midtown at around 6:46 a.m. on Wednesday. Bloomberg also named Thompson as the victim of a shooting.

The chief executive of UnitedHealthcare, one the nation’s largest insurers, was killed in midtown Manhattan in what police described as a targeted attack by a shooter outside a hotel where the company was holding a conference.
