The trends on Gift Nifty also indicate a flat start for the Indian benchmark index. The Gift Nifty was trading around 24,540 level, a discount of nearly 7 points from the Nifty futures’ previous close.

The domestic benchmark equity indices closed in green on Wednesday as buying was seen in PSU bank and realty sectors. The investors are keenly watching the Reserve Bank of India's (RBI) monetary policy committee (MPC) meeting which will announce its decision around the repo rate on Friday.

At the close, the Sensex jumped 597.67 points or 0.74% to settle at 80,845.75, while the Nifty climbed 181.10 points or 0.75% to end at 24,457.15. Market breadth was positive, with 2,647 shares advancing,

Nifty 50 jumped 0.70 per cent to the level of 24,445.80, breaking above its 50 and 100-day exponential moving averages (DEMA). The index has surpassed previous resistance levels.
