This weekend's below-freezing temperatures are expected to continue into the new week. It's perfectly timed that today is the first day of Winter Weather Awareness Week in Kentucky.

Winter Weather Awareness Week is from Dec. 1-7. Public Information Officer for the Department of Highways District 10, H.B. Elkins, said this is the perfect time to be reminded of precautions to take. Elkins said this includes bundling up as well as making sure to scrape snow not only off the windows of your car, but also the roof.

Across Kentucky, road crews geared up on Saturday to treat the state's roads ahead of what could be the first significant snowfall of the winter season.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Several counties across central Kentucky and southern Indiana are under a winter weather advisory until Friday morning. The National Weather Service issued the advisory from 4 p.m. Thursday to 7 a.m. Friday. Up to an inch of snow is expected in parts of the Louisville Metro, along with gusty winds and temperatures below freezing.
