Marvel Rivals is setting up to be a promising free-to-play title, but its newest monetization update has gotten fans even more excited.

Like most shooters, Marvel Rivals will include seasonal battle passes. However, unlike most games in the genre, purchased battle passes won't expire at the end of a season. Players will instead be able to continue making progress on old battle passes after the end of a season, much like the battle pass system in Halo Infinite.

Like Overwatch, the character roles determine how a certain hero is supposed to be played, supporting other players in the team in pre-determined ways. Lattice, the gold currency, is Marvel Rivals ' premium currency obtained by purchasing it outright. Units, the blue currency, can be exchanged at a 1:1 ratio using Lattice. They can also be earned for free through the Battle Pass,
